Gwynedd Arcaheological Trust posted stunning pictures of Garn Boduan Hillfort in Buan yesterday.

Originally a stone-walled hillfort, it is one of a number of similar sites along the Llyn Peninsula.

The hillfort covers nearly 25 acres and it is believed 170 circular huts were once there.

It is also possible that a fort or citadel was there during the Iron age or late Roman period.

A plan made in 1964 by RCAHMW, of how the fort would potentially be set out. Image via intarch.

It is the perfect site for a fort as it lies 920 feet above sea level! This is potentially why it could’ve been occupied from the pre-roman to the medieval era (although not occupied the whole time).
